The Lorien Trust (often abbreviated to the LT) is the trading name of Merlinroute Ltd – a Live Action Role-Play organisation that runs LARP events at Locko Park, near Derby in the U.K.

The Lorien Trust was formed in late 1991 after a group of experienced live role-players decided to run something better than the events that had been run before. By mid-1995 the company was restructured and became Merlinroute Ltd T/A The Lorien Trust that we know today.

Merlinroute Ltd runs some of Britain’s largest Live Roleplay events: attracting around 1,200 – 1,500 to each of its first three events each year, and around 2,500 – 3,000 people to its main event, The Gathering.

There is a well established high-fantasy game world, which uses its own set of LARP rules (currently operating in Rules 3), which are run over four main events operated out of Locko Park, these include:

  • The Spring Moot (sometimes referred to as Moot 1) – usually held over the early May Bank holiday weekend.
  • The Great Erdrejan Fayre (GEF) – a sporting championship event (previously known as the Heartland Games). Usually held over the Spring Bank Holiday weekend at the end of May.
  • The Summer Moot (sometimes referred to as Moot 2) – usually held around the first or second weekend of the Summer Holidays (late July/ early August).
  • The Gathering – the Lorien Trust’s flagship event, usually held over the Summer Bank Holiday weekend at the end of August.

In addition to the four main events held per year, the Lorien Trust also sanctions smaller events using the same system and game world. These are usually catered towards a specific Race, Guild or Faction, and are hosted over a multitude of different sites in the U.K.
